Overview
Matrix built a two-part campaign that turned VOLT’s rooftop into a stage for performance throughout the day, connecting different lighting, movement, and audiences through one visual language.
Client Request
Develop a visual campaign for a rooftop training club. The brief was to create a key visual that communicates the VOLT experience, then develop it into final advertising applications across different formats.
The Real Gap
A distinctive rooftop does not guarantee that people will understand the value of the experience built on it. If the rooftop appeared only as an attractive background, it would remain an architectural feature rather than become the idea of the campaign. Reducing it to a single moment would also ignore an essential part of its character: how the training experience changes from the beginning of the day to the energy of the night.
Human Shift
Before
A rooftop training space presented as a photograph of the location.
After
A performance platform whose energy changes with time while retaining a clear identity in every appearance.
Governing Decision
Let time change the meaning of the space, not the identity of the campaign. We did not create two disconnected visuals for morning and night. We built two connected expressions of the same place. Morning Discipline — a moment of beginning, defined by the horizon, focused energy, and the first decision to move. Night Energy — a moment of continuation, driven by movement, intensity, and a stronger sense of presence. The atmosphere changed, while the rooftop, composition, movement, and visual language continued to hold the campaign together.
Brand Story
The Campaign Platform — The day starts with discipline and continues with energy. The central idea evolved into two messages that complete one another. Start with Discipline — the morning visual connects the beginning of the day with commitment and the first decision in the performance journey. Keep Going with Energy — the night visual carries the campaign forward, presenting training as the energy that continues after the day ends. The relationship between the two messages was not based on visual similarity alone. It was built around a progression from beginning to continuation.
The System We Built
From Concept to Execution — We tested the logic of the image before adding its visual polish. The process began by defining the message each visual needed to carry. The concept was then translated into sketches that tested athlete placement, body movement, the relationship between the running track and the city skyline, equipment distribution, headline space, and the path of the viewer’s eye through the composition. Visual typography directions were explored before moving into final art direction and adapting the campaign for outdoor advertising formats. The Visual System — The Space: the rooftop and city skyline remained the fixed elements that defined the world of VOLT. The Light: warm golden light shaped the morning visual, while cool blue tones defined the night. The Movement: dynamic running poses made performance the centre of the image, rather than simply placing an athlete inside the location. Visual Typography: bold Arabic headlines were designed as part of the composition, not placed over it as an afterthought. The Composition: the running track and directional lines guide the eye from the message to the athlete, then into the depth of the space. Consistency: the athlete, time, and colour changed, while the image structure and brand rules remained consistent.
Execution Proof
Execution Proof — Concept Development: initial sketches explored the campaign idea, composition, movement, and visual typography directions for both expressions. Morning Discipline: a final key visual featuring an athlete accelerating across the rooftop track under the morning light, carrying the message “Start with Discipline.” Night Energy: a final key visual featuring a female athlete running across the VOLT rooftop at night, surrounded by blue light trails and carrying the message “Keep Going with Energy.” Advertising Applications: both campaign expressions were adapted into horizontal and vertical outdoor formats while preserving the clarity of the message and the strength of movement across different viewing distances.
Deliverables
- 01Central campaign concept
- 02Concept development sketches
- 03Visual typography exploration
- 04Morning Discipline key visual
- 05Night Energy key visual
- 06Connected visual system for both expressions
- 07Horizontal and vertical outdoor advertising applications

Outcome
The rooftop stopped being the background of the campaign. It became its idea and its stage. VOLT gained a visual system capable of expressing two distinct moments of performance without losing its unity, then carrying the concept from the initial sketch to outdoor advertising while keeping the central idea clear.
What We Learned
A strong key visual does more than show the space. It gives the space a meaning the campaign can grow within. When a place has more than one state, we do not reduce it to a single image. We build a system that allows it to change without losing its identity.
