Dar Zad
We did not present Middle Eastern food as a dish alone. We presented it as a story rooted in heritage.
This case study features three selected designs from a broader body of work created by Matrix for Dar Zad, connecting food with identity and the memories surrounding the Middle Eastern table.
THE CHALLENGE
How can tradition feel authentic without becoming visually predictable?
The challenge was to preserve Dar Zad’s cultural roots while giving them a contemporary expression—one that made the food desirable and the brand distinctive.
THE DECISION
Every dish became a chapter in the Dar Zad story.
We did not treat food as separate from the brand. Each dish was placed within a visual world inspired by the stories, rituals, and details that give the Middle Eastern table its meaning.
THE ROLE OF EACH DESIGN
The Roots — Architectural details and regional textures gave the food a sense of origin without overpowering the product.
The Table — The dish took centre stage, while the lighting and composition created a feeling of warmth, generosity, and presence.
The Story — A book with pages in motion became a visual metaphor for recipes and memories passed from one generation to the next.
THE RESULT
The collection built a world for Dar Zad that revealed not only what it serves, but what its food represents.
We did not create three advertisements for Middle Eastern dishes.
We opened three chapters in the story of Dar Zad.
