DOPA

Instead of portraying mornings as we wish they were, we built the brand around mornings as they really are.

DOPA entered a crowded specialty coffee market where many brands speak the same visual language: considered calm, premium details, and an experience that appears perfect at every moment. But the audience's mornings are rarely perfect. So we built the brand around the moment people need their daily dose to start - and keep moving through - their day.

01

The Real Problem

Specialty coffee brands had begun to look alike, even when their products tasted different.

DOPA needed to offer specialty coffee and breakfast without becoming another brand defined only by product photography and restrained colours. It needed a character people could recognise before reading the name, and a language capable of living inside rushed mornings and long days without compromising the product. The objective was not to make coffee feel more serious. It was to make the brand feel closer to the moment in which coffee is actually consumed.

02

The Central Decision

Your Daily Dose.

This was not treated as a standalone tagline. It became the idea organising the entire brand. It connects the name to the product and gives coffee a clear role in the audience's day: not simply a drink, but the dose that makes the morning easier and the rest of the day possible. This decision shaped the messaging, content, character, and product presentation: We cannot fix 8:00 AM. But we can make it better.

03

The Character

We created a character that needs DOPA as much as the audience does.

The character was designed with heavy eyes, a restrained expression, and a raised coffee cup. It does not present an idealised version of the morning. It reflects a familiar state: waking up slowly, facing the start of the day, and reaching for the first dose that restores balance. Its gestures and expressions may change, but the feeling remains recognisable. That allows it to act as a visual voice capable of carrying everyday messages without lengthy explanations.

04

Building the Brand

The character needed a flexible system, not one repeated pose.

The wordmark was built with rounded, weighted letterforms that give DOPA a playful and immediately recognisable presence. It was developed into multiple compositions: pairing the name with the character, transforming it into a circular seal, or reducing it for smaller applications. A wider set of poses and secondary marks completed the system: the wordmark establishes recognition, the character creates communication, and reduced marks build repetition and recall.

05

Colour and Visual Voice

A neutral foundation allows blue to become an unmistakable signal.

Ivory, black, and warm grey form a simple, adaptable base across the space, products, and packaging. A vivid blue enters as the brand's defining signal. It does not occupy every surface. Instead, it appears where the eye needs direction: within messages, icons, menu details, and social content. The result is an identity that remains composed inside the physical space and becomes more expressive when speaking directly to the audience.

06

From Cup to Experience

Every touchpoint needed to carry the same character - not simply repeat the same logo.

The identity moved from the storefront and counter to cups, containers, coffee bags, and packaging. It extended into menus, merchandise, uniforms, and social media, with each element adapting to its context. The objective was not to place the character on everything. It was to preserve the same feeling whether the audience encountered DOPA on a small cup, across a complete storefront, or in a quick social post.

07

Selected Work

DOPA becomes easier to recognise and harder to confuse.

The selected applications reveal a system that begins with a familiar human moment and transforms it into a wordmark, character, colour, message, and connected brand experience. We did not simply give a coffee brand a playful appearance. We built a character that understands how its audience feels before the first sip. DOPA - Your Daily Dose.
